Just wanted to make sure you had a chance to enroll in Your Genealogy Mystery: Noting the Clues<\/span><\/em><\/a> so you could start taking notes and capturing the clues you need.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

From the Roadmap support emails you should already be aware that…<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

1.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>For most genealogy questions you won’t find “the answer.” You have to create the answer by combining clues<\/span><\/strong>.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

2.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>You won’t find clues<\/span><\/strong> in your family tree, that’s where you keep “facts.”<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

3.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>You can’t use your clues<\/span><\/strong> if you haven’t captured them (and they aren’t in your tree so where did you put them?).<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Clues belong in your notes. One reason is, some information you won’t know is a clue until you gather more information later. Notes are how genealogists have always kept track of information they’ll need later, even if they don’t recognize the importance of that information initially.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
