Batley and Dewsbury Libraries’ consultation<\/o:p><\/span><\/h1>\n

Following the Council’s cabinet meeting on September 26, 2023 we are consulting on the proposals made in the asset review report <\/span><\/a>to modernise and relocate Dewsbury Library service to the Walsh Building and Batley Library service to Batley Town Hall.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you’ve borrowed books, taken a little one along to a Storytime, used the public access computers, attended one of our many events or are part of a group who meet at either library, now is the chance to have your say.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Paper copies of the survey are available at Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury, Mirfield, and Ravensthorpe (Greenwood Centre) libraries.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Opera North will be telling the story of Three Little Pigs by Paul Patterson, presented by a wind quintet from the Orchestra of Opera North and narrated by Polly Ives.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Little Listeners concerts are specially designed professional concerts for young children under 5 and their grown-ups.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether featuring players from the renowned Orchestra of Opera North, singers from the Opera North Chorus or other classical, jazz or world music ensembles, these concerts will give you and your child the chance to hear wonderful music close up, move around and respond naturally in a friendly and welcoming environment.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ruth Cockburn brings Black Liver’s brilliant live show ‘Miss Nobodies’<\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n

This two hander play takes us through the history of the last 100 years in a shop in a Northern town. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Often funny, sometimes poignant and always heartwarming, the show mixes poetry, storytelling and music to tell of the working class women that made up the shop’s history.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

This year, CWA want UK and Irish libraries – and their users – to propose names of crime writers to be listed for the award, before they get to the voting stage.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

If a someone votes for the writer who ends up the overall Dagger in the Library winner 2024, they’ll be entered into a draw to receive a book by the winner or by one of the shortlisted authors.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
